Vegas, Nevada - Sin City

Sin city where all the beautiful people are to have some fun so, yea, that’s why I’m here for the weekend. The bike is down, not literally, but in need of its 10,000 mile maintenance and a new rear tire so it’ll give me a chance to relax for the weekend, yea, try to relax in Vegas?

On the way out of Zion figured should check what else there was to see and sure glad I did since had already paid the $20 admission fee, almost forgot, that was free wasn’t it – remember the riders from the day before?. Found out the only way to see the rest of the canyon which is the big draw to the place is by shuttle. People use to be able to drive thru the entire canyon, but had to change that years ago cuz too many cars trying to get thru a small place and too many fist fights over parking spots and such, they figured when people started pulling guns for a parking spot, it was time to change. Well, you should be able to tell by the pictures that it was some pretty cool canyon to see…and just as a geology lesson the entire valley is sandstone, sure is even though it’s red, but the entire thing was formed by the Virgin river that ran through it…you can see a small piece of it in one of the pictures. Well, don’t remember the whole story on why red than white like sandstone is supposed to be so let’s just call it weathered. It’s hard to believe such a small stream formed the thing too, but they said it took a few thousand years. It’s definitely an interesting place to visit and one I’d like to go back to too hike the different trails to see the sites that are only reachable that way and’ll have to do it while I’m still young and healthy…look close and on the cliff of one of the pictures is 3 mountain climbers – that’d be a whole other experience for me and one I’ll have to train for.

Finally out of the canyon and on my way for Vegas which is only suppose to be a couple hours away so figured a stop for breakfast would be a good idea. Found this little place in Hurricane, Sweet Williams that was boasting good home cookin so checked it out. Well, the breakfast was average and doesn’t beat the bar time breakfast you can have at Mickey’s diner in St Paul, but can’t be too picky while on the road. Made it a quick stop since still had to get to Vegas to pickup a key to an apartment and see about getting my bike in for maintenance so hit the freeway – it’s a whole other experience driving into Vegas than flying in to have some fun, first of all, you’re sober. Well, made it to Brian’s apartment and for those who don’t know who Brian is, well he’s my new roommates old roommate so I haven’t gotten to know him too well yet and this weekend won’t be the weekend since he’s in Phoenix for training…thanks for letting me use the place though, it’ll be a big help. Once the bike was unpacked had to get it to the shop so can get back on the road sooner than later. Well, I’ll tell you, the other side of Sin city that people don’t see is quite different than when in town on the strip or downtown having a little fun. Had to take a couple of buses from the shop back to the apartment and there were a lot of sad lookin people on the buses, people just getting off from work heading home for the weekend and I’m sure some of them probably still having to work for the weekend…boy, isn’t it great not having to work – at least for the time being.

Ok, now it’s time to cleanup and hit the strip to have a little fun, but found out this is one of those places which is a lot more fun coming with a group or at least another person to have that fun, but hey, I can make the most of it. More sin city to come. Todays clean pics.
